YOGA

Become aware
One of the most fundamental aspects of yoga is that of casting light on human psychology by allowing us to become aware of the emotional obstacles that are preventing us from discovering our true nature. Roz's teaching offers a rare opportunity for people who are seeking a deeper, more honest and integrated appreciation of yoga and of themselves; where they may gain a practical understanding (underpinned by the most recent advances in physiological and psychological knowledge) whilst exploring and extending their physical and emotional capabilities.

Explore your physical and emotional capabilities

As interest in yoga increases in the West, one danger that arises is oversimplification - reducing it to a purely physical discipline. The use of physical postures (asanas) is just one tool of many used in yoga, just as important as physical practice is self-reflection (svadhyaya). This concept was underlined in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the most recognised and widely acknowledged source of reference on Yoga.

The mind is both the source of and solution to our problems

According to Patanjali, the mind is both the source of and solution to our problems. If our mind is agitated, distracted or conditioned by habit then our perception may be inaccurate (avidya), landing us in trouble. However, if our mind is disciplined, focused and free from repeated patterns or habits, our perception will be more accurate and therefore our actions based on this perception will not cause suffering to either ourselves or to others. Aspiring to reflect this knowledge, Roz's classes are intended as more than purely a weekly work-out; she offers guidance and insight for people who are looking to develop their understanding and practice on a personal level, perhaps as a part of their daily routine.

Challenge imbalances through self-reflection

Roz's understanding of yoga and of psychology has allowed her insight into how asana and pranayama have dual qualities. An aspect of this is that they can be used either to merely pacify our emotional and physical imbalances or as a tool that can open us up to a point where we are able to recognise and challenge these imbalances through self-reflection. In this way we can develop a self-awareness that may bring us to discover our true nature.

Hourly group classes, individual sessions and work-shops are open to both novice and advanced students or teachers of all ages and either gender. Group classes are available for people who wish to experience the benefits of physical practice and the individual sessions are offered to provide a safe and confidential space for those who would also like to work on a deeper, more emotional and/or spiritual level.

Roz is trained in the KYHF* tradition by Marc Beauvain*, The KYHF teacher-training course is accredited with the BWY and Roz is also a member.

Working in an extraordinarily beautiful and peaceful environment her classes focus on gentle but powerful exercises designed to help us to reconnect with ourselves. Roz's approach is grounded, practical, balanced and empathic. In her individual classes the sessions are aimed at providing a rounded experience that focuses more on allowing students to identify their emotional obstacles; working toward and ultimately realising their true potential.
